Dear Uncle Tom, 
It is hard to imagine you are gone. My kids and I miss you so much. I hope Donna finally found a nice resting place for you. We don't know much about your passing, for it was definitely sudden and unexpected on October 29th, 2023.  You made me losing my father, Bob, your brother in my early 30s a little easier; because seeing you reminded me of Daddy. So you being gone now,  it's just me and Julia. We miss you and wish you a peaceful rest wherever you may be.

Thomas, I am sorry to hear about your passing. It was nice to have known you and to have worked with you in the N.C. Air Guard. It was always fun to talk with you about the Panthers. I was among the original PSL owners. My condolences to all of your family. You are in heaven now. Please take care and rest in peace.

I worked with Tom for many years on the counter drug task force.  A great team player and a good friend.  I remember Tom being a “crown” guy who was easy to get to know and very generous.  He, Jorge (another colleague) and I have stayed in touch since his retirement and would normally be able to get together for a meal at Cracker Barrel every year.  It was our tradition.  He always insisted on picking up the tab and we didn’t fight him over it!  I regret there won’t be the chance to gather up again.  Praying for those closest to him.

I worked with Tom while doing some counter drug operations in the early 2000's.  Tom was the consummate professional in every way while being warm, friendly and encouraging to all he encountered.
I was saddened when I heard he had passed on.

Tom was always fun to be around at the air guard and was always helpful.  He will be missed for sure.

I as so saddened to learn of Chief Inness’ passing. Tom.was the epitome of a Chief. He was always respectful to other Chiefs and he will be greatly missed. What a professional man. Love you Tom and I will see you again someday.

A photo of Tom on my last day of drill.  He was always positive and encouraging.  One of the nicest guys I've ever met.  It's an honor and a privilege to have served with him and to have called him my friend.

I found this photo of Chief Innes that I took, and wanted to share. In 2001, we were sent to Fort Riley in Kansas to document NC Army Guard Soldiers during thier annual training. His sense of duty and humor will be so missed.

You will be sorely missed my friend. We had a bunch of good times at the VFW  and when you worked at the Speedway and Zmax dragway. The memories of our time together will keep me smiling.  Keep an eye on us!!

Dear Donna - Tom was a fine man, an outstanding Airman and loyal friend. He made many positive impacts with his work in the NCNG Counterdrug Program. I am grateful to have been able to work with him for so many years. Sending my most heartfelt sympathies to you and your family.

It had been an honor to have known Tom Innes. He was an exceptional man and always kind and giving to others. He gave me tickets to the hockey game last year for me and my son and we had a blast!! I will never forget the kindness he showed me and my son!! You will be missed so much especially on March 24th, Our Birthday!! RIP Great Friend ❤️

Tom was one of the first to befriend me at the post (VFW).  He wouldn't let me do a session of karaoke without singing Marshall Tucker's, "Can't You See!"  I was always happy to oblige.

Tom was a great man. So friendly and such a kind soul. He was a good friend of my grandmothers and I met him at the VFW. He always had nice things to say. He will surely be missed!

Tom and his brothers Bob and Bill were the mainstays among the group of guys who hung out, played pickup basketball in their back yard in Grove Park in the early/ mid 1960s.  He was a great guy and I'd like to extend my condolences to his wife and family. We haven't been in touch for a while, but the great memories will stay forever.

Tom and I went to school together for 12 years and served together on the Independence H.S. Class of 1970 reunion committee for 35-40 years. He was a great friend to me and many others. Everybody loved Tom. He left a tremendous legacy in how he treated and loved his family and friends. Rest in peace my friend.

As a colleague and friend of Tom for many years, I just want to say how sorry I am that he has died.  He served his country, state and community with dedication and selfless commitment. I will miss him greatly and will pray for his wife, Donna, and for others in his extended family.

Tom was such a great man! I am honored to have known him! He will definitely be missed!

I got know Tom at the NC Air National Guard in Charlotte.  He was a kind and gentle person and I am grateful that our paths crossed.

We have only been blessed with knowing Tom for a few short years. During that time, we have come to appreciate what a kind, considerate and compassionate person he was. This was not only evident in his relationships with his family, it was also evident in his relationships with friends and even strangers. We have seen his caring and generous nature with all those with whom he came in contact. We and the rest of those who knew him will be at a loss without him. His passing was a complete shock. He will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace.
