Steven Lee Buchanan

Steven Lee Buchanan, age 80, of Waynesville, North Carolina passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his family. Steven was born in New Hanover County, NC on November 10, 1942, to the late Joseph and Doris Page Buchanan. He was retired from Dayco International after 34 years of faithful service. Steven also served the citizens of North Carolina in the National Guard for 24 years.

In addition to his parents, Steven was preceded in death by his brother, David Buchanan.

Steven is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Linda Hill Buchanan; daughters, Angela Phillips and Audrey Best (Ricky); grandchildren, Paige Green (Cody), Ashley Leatherwood (Sawyer), and Jason Best; extended family, Jerry Phillips; special furbaby, Chili.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, February 5, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with Brother Ray Clark and the Reverend Shanne Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Buchanan Cemetery. Friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 1:30-3:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Clyde First Baptist Preschool, attention: Sandy Osborne, where Steve and Linda frequently volunteered.
