Cullowhee-Nancy Mull Shuler, 93, died on Monday, November 6, 2017, at Skyland Care Center. Nancy was born in Jackson County on May 26, 1924, to the late Charlie and Zona Knight Mull. She was an “old fashion woman” who will be remembered for being helpful in her community. Nancy enjoyed gardening, canning and taking care of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her children, Carmel Shular; her second husband, Frank Shuler; siblings, Lloyd Mull, Sylvester “Dock” Mull, Dorothy McGaha, Mattie Jackson, and Claude Mull. Nancy is survived by a son, Clifford Shular (Sandra); a daughter, Ora Blanche Cook (Martin); brothers, Joe Mull (Catheryn), Clint Mull, Clyde Mull, and Mack Mull (Donna Faye); sisters, Hermie Piper (Jimmy), Geraldine Owen, and Edith Valentine; grandchildren Myron (Jennifer), Marcia, Michael Cook, and Aundria Pressley (Larry); and great-grandchildren, Caleb, Hannah, Josiah, Abigail Cook and Phillip Pressley (Shellie) and Melissa Pressley. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, November 9, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend Michael Queen officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 10, at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Sylva with the Reverend Steve Webb officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-6:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
