Waynesville- Leslie S. Cowan, age 88, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2014, at Maggie Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation. Les was born in Bull Creek, Texas on May 24, 1926, to the late Troy and Levie Cravatt Cowan. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. Les came to Maggie Valley in 1954 to help his sister, Clara open and operate Soco Gardens. He was a carpenter by trade who loved to tell stories and corny jokes.
In addition to his parents Les was preceded in death by his son, Scotty Cowan; five sisters, Dale, Tootie, Barbara, Curtis, and Clara; and two brothers, Dutch and Sonny.
Les is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Nancy Boyd Cowan; his daughter Cammy Cowan; one sister, Audrey; four brothers, Ray, Jimmy and Bill Cowan, and Mike Ross; and many kinfolk and friends.
There will be a gathering of family and friends from 6-9 PM on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at “Granny Boyd’s” house off Bob Boyd Road and a service at a later date in Bull Creek, Texas.
