Dorothy Eloise Wood

Dorothy Eloise Wood, age 96, of Waynesville, NC passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2024. Dorothy was born in Daytona Beach, FL, on March 12, 1928, to the late Edward and Alice Stevens Fuller. She enjoyed reading, working puzzles, but most of all, Dorothy loved spending time with her family. Dorothy graduated from Waynesville Township High School, Mars Hill College and Memorial Mission School of Nursing. She served as Director of Nursing at Haywood County Hospital was a nursing instructor at Mission Hospital before finally retiring as a nursing instructor at Haywood Community College.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Coy Hamilton Wood; brother, Arthur E. Fuller; and grandson, Scott Wood.

Dorothy is survived by her step-sons, Elwyn Wood (Molly), Michael Wood, and Randy Wood (Janie); four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, November 25, in the chapel of First Baptist Church, Waynesville with the Reverend Dr. Robert Prince officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
