Darrell Wayne Barnette

Darrell Wayne Barnette, 51, a lifelong resident of Haywood County, NC went home to be with the Lord on April 15, 2023, at Carolina Caring Sherrills Ford Hospice House in Sherrills Ford, NC.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents WH "Bug" Barnette and Judith Smith Barnette; one sister, Cyndi Mintz, and one brother-in-law, Randy Cloer.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife Della “DJ" Ledford Barnette; children of the home Joshua Lee Barnette and Xander Wayne Barnette; older children Andrea "Nikki" Foley (Andrew), Brandon Conard (Amber), Monica Luther, and James Luther (Tabitha); 12 1/2 grandbabies; his sister, Dee Dee Cloer; uncle, Ronnie Smith; brother-in-law David Mintz; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nephews, extended family, and close friends he considered brothers and sisters; and friends in the community.

Darrell was employed as a truck driver for many years. He was a devoted family man, loyal friend, and community advocate. He was a champion and voice for Cerebral Palsy, children, veterans, and the underdogs. He enjoyed front porch and bonfire sitting, "watering the roses" with his wife, fishing, hunting, watching NASCAR, spending time with loved ones, camping and singing karaoke as a family sport. Darrell found his greatest joy in making others laugh.

A Celebration of Life service is planned for the near future. Please check back for updates.

He will be greatly missed and remembered by so many.
