Waynesville-Cynthia “Cindy” Lynn Smith, 38 passed away unexpectedly along with her unborn daughter, Ryleigh Quinn Smith, on Tuesday, January 21, 2020. Cindy was born in Haywood County on February 23, 1981, to Mark Smith (Lisa) and Lynn Spivey (Tim). She enjoyed and loved her friends and family, especially her daughter, Kahlan. Kahlan chose the name Quinn for her little sister. Cindy was so excited and happy to have another baby on the way. She was passionate about God and her church. Cindy loved her job as a teacher at Kid Connection Learning Center and all of her kids there. She loved animals, in particular her dog, Mia, her chinchilla and her and Kahlan’s 2 cats.
Cindy was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Charles Hugh Goodson; and her sister, Sabrina Spivey.
In addition to her parents, Cindy is survived by her daughter, Kahlan Destiny Lashbrooks; maternal grandmother, “who was the love of her heart”, Vicki R. Clark of Waynesville; paternal grandparents JB and Leona Smith of Marion; brothers, Travis Spivey of Fletcher, Chris Smith of Marion, Nicholas Smith of Marion, and Jeremy Young of Haywood County; sister, Crystal Spivey of Fletcher and Melissa Young of Haywood County; and lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funerals services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 25, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend James Hensley officiating. Burial will follow at Dawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 2 hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
