Waynesville-Cleo Elizabeth Gibson, 78, of Waynesville, passed away on March 1, 2015, at the home of her daughter, Thomasine Mitchell. Cleo was born in Spartanburg, SC on June 24, 1936, to the late Emmett Lee and Azalee King Bradley. Cleo enjoyed fishing, camping, sewing, and collecting dolls, but most of all she enjoyed having big family gatherings. In addition to her parents, Cleo was preceded in death by her husband, Hobert Gibson; five brothers, William (Bill), Calvin, Millard (Filmore), Robert E., and Earl Bradley; and one sister, Callie Azalee Jarrett. Cleo is survived by a son, Stanley Gibson and his wife Diane; three daughters, Thomasine Mitchell and her husband, David, Kathy Cagle and her husband, Gene, and Alice Gibson-Messer and her husband, Jim Messer; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 5, in the chapel of Garret Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend Gary Haynes officiating. Burial will follow in Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. Cleo’s viewing will be from 11:00 AM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, and Wednesday at the home of David and Thomasine Mitchell.
