Cathy Lenell Collins (Buchanan) Rogers

Waynesville-On September 2, 2019, our dear angel, Cathy Lenell Collins (Buchanan) Rogers, 70, was healed by Jesus, who welcomed her into his loving and protective arms in Heaven. During this past year Cathy became ill from several afflictions. She underwent several operations, which placed a great deal of stress on her body and was hospitalized several times, and spent over four months in rehab. Her body became weaker and immobile. This has been the saddest day for our families and friends.

Cathy was born on September 24, 1948, to Glenn and Betty Collins. She was so very special to all who knew her, especially to her husband, Bob, son Bryan and wife, Candy, daughter, Sandy, sons, Kevin and Matthew, granddaughters, Elizabeth, Caitlin, and Mimosa, and grandsons, Benjamin, Zebulon, and Brock, brother, Fielding and wife, Donna, special friends, Glenda Duckett, Kendra and Mary Ann Moore, and many more friends.

In addition to her parents, Cathy was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Ray Buchanan, and daughter, Laura Ann Buchanan.

Growing up she and Bob were lifelong friends who were born three days apart, at the same hospital, and probably the same doctor. In high school they dated and had great fun riding in Bob’s red 54 Ford truck. Both went to college, Cathy becoming a nurse of 40 years. As Bryan was growing up, Cathy was a hardworking, single mom always putting his welfare and wellbeing before her own. She succeeded working at two hospitals and then at Autumn Care for over 25 years and Bob earned degrees in Business and Industrial Management and worked at Dayco ten years, and then retired from the US Navy. When Bob returned home, he and Cathy began dating, and celebrated over seventeen years of marriage. Both were anticipating the celebrations of their birthdays this month. We are happy knowing she is singing and dancing in Heaven. Her pain has been taken away and replaced with rejoicing. She enjoyed collecting angels and dolls, reading and going to the beach. Cathy was a member of Ninevah Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, September 5, at Ninevah Baptist Church with the Reverends Mike Leslie and Bryan Buchanan officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Franklin, Steve Davis, Larry Inman, Mark Brown, John Allen, and Jeff Haynes. The family will receive friends from 12-2 pm prior to the service at the church.
