Beatrice Jo Thomas Miller

Beatrice Jo Thomas Miller, age 88, of Clyde, North Carolina, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Autumn Care of Waynesville.

Beatrice was born February 11, 1935, in Dry Branch Nunley Hollar in Reed, West Virginia, to the late Joseph Jennings Thomas and Nola Irene Nunley Thomas. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers. Everett Ray Miller Sr. and Beatrice were married in 1954 and were happily married for 55 years until his death in 2009.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Everett Ray Miller, Sr., her sister Norma Thomas Page, and her brother, “JC” Thomas.

Left to cherish her memory is her son Ray (Tammy) Miller of Clyde, NC, son Mark (Carol) Miller of Dandridge, TN, daughter Renee Jo Carlton of Ocoee, Fl, daughter Cindi Smith of Lady Lake, FL, sister Tish Boes of Columbus, IN, sister Kay (Jack) Myers of Bowling Green, KY, seven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Beatrice loved spending time traveling with her sisters and her cousin Cheryl Hickman. As a seamstress, she was known for her intricate quilts and beautifully handmade dolls and clothing. She spent years researching and documenting her family’s genealogy, which will be carried on by two of her granddaughters. As a homemaker, she shared her love of cooking with her family through homemade meals served around her table.

A visitation for Beatrice will be held Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Garrett Funerals and Cremations, 460 North Main St, Waynesville, North Carolina 28786. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 3:00 PM at Garrett-Hillcrest Cemetery, 886 Russ Ave., Waynesville, North Carolina 28786.
