Barbara Jean Arrington

Canton, NC – Barbara Jean Arrington 83, passed away Monday, August 26, 2019 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. Born in Haywood County, on October 10th, 1935 to the late Ralph and Truelbe Hightower. Barbara enjoyed traveling all over the world, antiquing, and decorating. Most of she loved living her life with her dogs, Mickey, and Smokey with her late husband of 55 years, Ralph Joel Arrington. Barbara rose from being a switchboard operator to a Human Resource Representative at Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company. Barbara was a member of First Baptist Church in Canton.

Barbara is survived by a brother Ralph Roy Hightower and his wife, Jewell of Brevard; sisters Doris Ann Friel of Arlington, VA, Joyce Lee McCracken of Clyde, and Gail Bradburn and husband, Doug of Canton.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, August 29, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend Dr. Court Greene officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
