She was born Thursday, December 31, 1942 in a fierce winter storm in Waynesburg, PA. A daughter of the late Howard Lawrence Garber and Genevieve "Jane" Orndoff Garber.
Mrs. Hogue was a graduate of Waynesburg High School class of 1961. She missed her graduating class of 1960 due to severe illness. She attended Business School in Hagerstown, MD. She worked as an Office Manager for the former Sutton Printing Company on Franklin St. in Waynesburg, PA. for several years. She left the business world to be a full time devoted homemaker in 1970 after her first attack of Crohn's Disease. Her 2nd battle of Crohn's Disease in 1986 left her to be dependent on IV Therapy. For 30 years she baffled the medical community in her resilience against Crohn's.
While quiet in her social spheres, her faith was strong as she traveled and lived with her son John, who is ordained in the United Church of Christ and Disciples of Christ faith traditions. She lived with her son John in Ohio, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Missouri and most recently Nebraska. Her recent travels led her to see her son John working to complete his credentials in the United Methodist Church of which he currently serves the First United Methodist Church in Falls City and Trinity United Methodist Church in Rulo, Nebraska.
Her Husband : Richard A. Hogue, died January 4, 1989.
Surviving are 2 Sons: John "Jack" (Karen) King, of Beaver, PA., and Rev. John R.(Veronica) Hogue, of Falls City, NE., 4 Grandchildren: Kristy, Daniel, Isaac and Nethanel. 1 Brother:
Howard R. Garber, San Antonio, TX., and several nieces and nephews who live in CA. and TX.
Deceased are 2 Brothers: Barry Lee Garber who died in infancy and Theodore Garber. 1 infant grandchild.
There will be a greeting of friends from 7:00PM to 9:00PM at the First United Methodist Church in Falls City, NE. on Thursday, August 18, 2016 with additional greeting time from 10:00AM to 11:00AM the time of a celebration of life on Friday, August 19, 2016 at the church with her son Rev. John R. Hogue officiating. The committal service will be held on Friday, September 16, 2016 at 10:00AM at the Oakmont Cemetery in Waynesburg with her son the Rev. John Hogue officiating. The family ask that no flowers be sent and that memorials in Mary's honor be given either to Epworth Village, York, Nebraska or Camp Scholarships at the Trinity United Methodist Church Rulo, 1700 Harlan St., Falls City, NE. 68355.
