He was born January 13, 1948 in Moorefield, WV, a son of the late Ray William Gensler and Frances Inghram Gensler.
He was a 1965 graduate of Waynesburg Central High School. He continued his education at Robert Morris University where he earned a degree in accounting. He later earned a degree in elementary education from Waynesburg University.
Mr. Gensler taught for over 20 years in the Whitely and East Ward elementary Schools of the Central Greene School District. After his retirement from teaching, he was an avid hobby farmer.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Waynesburg where he served as the Sunday School Treasurer for 30 years. He was also a member of the Waynesburg Lions Club and the Greene County Farm Bureau.
Bill loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed antique vehicles and tractors.
Surviving are his wife Joy A. Bigler Gensler, whom he married on August 19, 1972; one daughter, Ann Inghram McCarty-Chess and her husband Craig S. Chess; two granddaughters, Madeline Elaine McCarty and Emily Claire McCarty, all of Waynesburg.
He also leaves his beloved dog, Polly.
