William Frank Hunt Jr.

Born on September 1, 1933 in Charlottesville, he was a son of the late William Frank Hunt and Loreadie H. (Kern) Hunt Noe.

Bill graduated from Wilson High School Class of 1950. He served his country honorably with the U.S. Air Force for 25 years having risen to the rank of Master Sergeant. Following his retirement with the Air Force, he and Maxine came back to the Shenandoah Valley where he worked as the chemistry lab manager at UVA. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather and friend to many.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Hunt; and brother, Gary Hunt.

Bill leaves behind his loving wife of 71 years, Norma Maxine Hunt; son, Terry Hunt (Sue); brother, Ron Hunt (Theresa); five grandchildren, Jared Hunt, Corey Hunt, Chuck Layman, Melissa Frye, and Lacon McClenny; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 28, 2023 at Sherlynd Baptist Church, 20 Winterview Lane, Lyndhurst.

Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday with Pastor Bill Johnson officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Sherando United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Chuck Layman, Corey Hunt, Jared Hunt, Benjamin “Ben” Kramer, Charles Layman, and Keith Bailey.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Jenkins, Mike Fitzgerald, Ronnie Shirley, and Paul Balsley.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to Connections Baptist Church, 3304 Stuarts Draft Highway, Suite 114, Waynesboro, VA 22980.
