Obituary of Wallace Homer Goode
Wallace Homer Goode, 81, of Shipman, VA, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at his residence. Mr. Goode was born on September 5, 1939 in Augusta County and was a son of the late Homer Clifton and Belver Virginia (Graves) Goode. Wallace graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and later graduated from Northern Michigan University with a Master’s Degree. He worked for U.S. Steel, DuPont in both Richmond and South Carolina, and Mead Paper Company in Escanaba, MI, where he retired in 1998. Mr. Goode was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lovingston. He was a volunteer electrician with Habitat for Humanity. Wallace was an avid runner, competing in marathons and triathlons and ran on many of the roads of Nelson County. On September 15, 1961 he married the former Roberta Harman who survives. In addition to his wife, Mr. Goode is survived by his children, Lisa Penoske and husband Jim of New Berlin, WI, Gregory Goode and wife Sherri of Hartsville, SC, Jessica Goode of Palmyra, VA; brothers, Johnny Goode and wife Susie of Hartsville, SC, Larry Goode and wife Jill of Goose Creek, SC; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a special sister in law, Jean Fitzgerald. A graveside service will be held on Saturday January 30, 2021 at 11 AM at Riverview Cemetery with Pastor John Campbell officiating.
