Robert T. "Jake" Evans

Robert Theadore “Jake” Evans, 90, of Waynesboro, died at 10:50 AM Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Augusta Health in Fishersville. He was born September 19, 1924 in Augusta County a son of the late John W. Sr., and Myrtel Almarode Evans. He served in the United States Army during World War ll and the Korean War. He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, past Commander of American Legion Post 131, a member of BPOE Lodge 2270, American Legion Post 340, Waynesboro Moose Lodge and retired from the DuPont Company after 40 years of service. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John W. Evans, Jr. On January 8, 1952 he married the former EvaMarie Seher who survives. He also leaves a sister-in-law, Iva Evans of Waynesboro, two nieces and his faithful K-9 companion “Bucky”. A service will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with the Rev. Clay Knick officiating, along with rites provided by BPOE Lodge 2270. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park with military rites provided by American Legion Post 340. Active pallbearers will be members of BPOE Lodge 2270. Honorary pallbearers will be Lynwood Sandy and Coy Linton. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
