He was born July 11, 1952, a son of the late James and Isabelle (Chrisman) Balser.
Richard was a former employee of the Crompton Plant in Waynesboro and retired from Hershey Chocolate in Stuarts Draft after 30 plus years of service and was an active member of Waynesboro Mennonite Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Justin Balser; step-father, Warren Chrisman, Sr.; brothers, Gary Balser and Warren Chrisman, Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Gloria Plummer Balser; his son, Chris Balser; half sister, Karen Chrisman; grandchildren, Kenya Balser, Ijahmin Balser, Symeon Balser and Nolan Haines.
He also leaves special friends Charles and Marcella Stewart.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at the Waynesboro Mennonite Church with Pastor Clair Good officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service.
