Michael Austin Freed

Michael Austin “Mike” Freed, 66, of Waynesboro passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023 with his wife by his side. Born December 10, 1956 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late “Rudy” and “Pat” Freed. Mike is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sheila Anderson Freed and their children, Sarah Freed of Staunton and Owen Freed of Waynesboro; brothers, Frank Freed and wife, Linda, and Richard “Dick” Freed and wife, Kathy; and several nieces and nephews. Mike worked for many years in the farm equipment industry, recently retiring from James River Equipment. Following cremation, the family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Wayne Hills Baptist Church, 877 Ladd Road, Waynesboro. Following the visitation, a memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the church with Dr. Jamie McClanahan and Dr. Dan Gregg officiating.
