Jung Ja "Kim" Shirley

Jung Ja "Kim" Shirley, 84, of Lyndhurst passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was born November 4, 1940 in Seoul, South Korea and came to the United States with her husband Jerry in 1964. She was well known in the community as the owner of Shirley's Store in Sherando for over 30 years. She spent her retirement years enjoying her grandchildren and working with her garden and flowers. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Jerry Lee Shirley. She is survived by her children, Donna Workman and husband, Jeff, Tina Hardison and husband, Jerry, Julie Mays and husband, John, and Matthew Shirley and wife, Edy; 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister Chong Moore; and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her special sisters-in-law, Doris Bailey, Peggy Monroe, MaryLou Jones and Bonnie Campbell. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Sherando Community Church, 2022 Howardsville Turnpike, Stuarts Draft. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor John Mays officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Dustin Simmons, John Mays III, Matthew Shirley, Jr., Lance Howdyshell, Ryan Mercer, Justin Shaw, and Carey Williams.
