James Edward Norwood, Jr.

James Edward Norwood, Jr., 75, of Waynesboro passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at VCU Medical Center, Richmond. Born November 19, 1948 in Baltimore, MD, he was a son of the late James Edward Norwood, Sr. and Marion Katherine (Ahlers) Norwood. On August 10, 1974 he married Debra Elaine Smith. The two shared 50 years of wonderful marriage together. James was a U.S. Navy veteran having served his country honorably during the Vietnam War. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Hershey Chocolate of Virginia in Stuarts Draft. He greatly enjoyed riding his motorcycle, bowling and hunting. James will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jason Edward Norwood; sister, Karen Norwood; and his k-9 companion, Sandy. Survivors include his loving wife, Debra E. Norwood of Waynesboro; son, Michael Shawn Norwood and wife, Angela Marie of Waynesboro; step-son, Christopher Scott Smith and wife, Jennifer of Barboursville, VA; granddaughter, Tesa Elyse Smith; step-grandsons, Ethan Harris and Evan Harris; brother, Thomas Anton Norwood of Richmond; and two nephews, Christopher Norwood and T.J. Norwood. Following cremation, services will be announced at a later date.
