Born April 23, 1953 in Trenton, NJ; he was the son of the late Homer Franklin and Lillian Ann (Sandridge) Tanner.
Mr. Tanner was employed with Augusta Lumber and had been a faithful employee since 2000. Being of Native American decent, he liked studying his Cherokee heritage. An avid sports fan, he could almost always be found cheering on the Red Skins or Atlanta Braves and always watching NASCAR racing. Henry enjoyed working on puzzles, playing corn hole, fishing, and dancing. Those who knew him will miss his love for life and desire to always have a good time.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Frank, Robert and Paul Tanner.
Survivors include the mother of his children, Wanda McPherson; son, Kevin Tanner; daughter, Kimberly Tanner; grandson, Addison Tanner; step-children, Tracy Trimble and Peggy Sue Miller; step-grandchildren, Brandon, Stephanie, and Logan; special niece and nephew, Wendy Sutton and Andy Tanner; sister, Dorothy Hawley; numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his dog, Angel, who meant the world to him.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Rev. Ray Fisher leading.
