Douglas Richmond Surber, II, 72, of Palmyra, passed away on Wednesday December 21, 2022 at his residence.
Mr. Surber was born on April 9, 1950 in Des Moines, IA and was a son of Douglas Richmond Surber and Ruth (Bohner) Whipple, who survive. Douglas worked for the United States Park Police for 20 years prior to his retirement. He later worked for the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Department and the Department of Justice. Mr. Surber was a member of the Catholic Church. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his children and grandchildren.
On April 24, 1976 he married the former Karen Galayda who survives.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Surber is survived by his sons, Gregory D. Surber and wife Tessa of Virginia Beach, VA, Philip D. Surber and wife Lauren of Culpeper, VA; a sister, Denise M. Pollock and husband Donald of Penhook, VA; six grandchildren, Philip D. Surber, Andrew D. Surber, Lydia M. Surber, Sophia M. Surber, Stephen D. Surber, Callan M. Surber; and his beloved dog, Izzy.
Services will be held at a later date. His body was cremated.
