Sudie was born in Virginia to Kathleen (Harmon) Kennedy and Roger Baxter Kennedy on August 30, 1938. Sudie graduated from Waynesboro High School, where she met her husband of 68 years, Freddie “Coo-Coo” Roberts. Sudie was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who took great care of her family. She was very attentive to her children and grandchildren, always going to their games and events that they participated in. She was a talented tennis player and enjoyed spending time with and seeing movies with her friends. She was also a long-standing member of Second Presbyterian Church in Waynesboro.
In addition to her parents, Sudie was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Kennedy; and a special aunt, Dot Harmon.
Sudie is survived by her beloved husband, “Coo-Coo” Roberts; her sons, Ricky Ray Roberts and wife Dawn of Stuarts Draft, Timothy Roger Roberts and wife Kaye of Staunton, and Tracy Jay Roberts of Shaker Heights, OH. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Megan Roberts (Jamie Hutt), Stephanie Roberts, Ashton Rhyne (Justin), Sarah Mendoza (Chris), Freddie Roberts, Zachary Roberts, and Bradley Roberts (Louisa). In addition, Sudie is survived by her great grandchildren, Kingston Cook, Kohen Kier, and Ada Mendoza; a sister, Janet Campbell of Waynesboro; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 27, 2024, at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Amy Fetterman officiating. Burial will follow immediately after the funeral service at Riverview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Freddie Roberts, Zachary Roberts, Bradley Roberts, Justin Rhyne, Chris Mendoza and Jamie Hutt. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Erskine, Bob Miller, Danny Leach, and Harry Mack Dooms.
The family will receive friends at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 27 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
