Charles Edward Fitzgerald

Charles Edward Fitzgerald, 83, of Lyndhurst, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2023 at the Shenandoah Hospice House in Fishersville. He was born in Nelson County on February 21, 1940, a son of the late Arthur Newton and Hannah (Phillips) Fitzgerald. He was a member of SherLynd Baptist Church and retired from Nibco in Stuarts Draft. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Karen Claytor; grandson, Franky Claytor; son-in-law, Mike Claytor; siblings, Ralph Fitzgerald, Wilmer Fitzgerald, Eldridge Fitzgerald, Joe Fitzgerald, Junior Fitzgerald, James Fitzgerald and Maggie Allen. Survivors include his wife, Leatrice (Coffey) Fitzgerald; a son, Tony Fitzgerald (Lori); daughters, Donna Claytor (Bill), Sharon Claytor; brother, Elwood Fitzgerald; sisters, Geraldine Clements, Jean Miller; grandchildren, Alicia Doyle (Chris), Amber Fitzgerald (R.J.), Paul Wayne Claytor (Morgan), Ryan Fitzgerald (Jessica), Jeremy Fitzgerald (Callie), as well as 20 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren; special nieces, Jordyn, Rylee and McKenzie. Pastor George Allen will conduct a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 10, 2023 at SherLynd Baptist Church, 20 Winterview Lane, Lyndhurst, Va. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons attending the service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The family wishes to give a special thank you to the doctors and nurses of the Shenandoah Hospice House.
