Barbara Jean Huckaby

Barbara Jean Huckaby, 86, of Waynesboro, passed away on Thursday, June 27th, 2024 at the Shenandoah House in Fishersville. Barbara was born in Bristol, TN to Donald and Ella (Jessee) Leonard on January 3rd, 1938. Barbara worked many years as an assistant at District Home nursing home in Waynesboro until she was severely injured in a crash, preventing her from working. She will be remembered as a very generous and loving person who was kind to everyone she met. After Hurricane Hugo hit, Barbara responded to the area with the Hershey Relief Foundation to assist with care of affected families. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who loved to dance and enjoyed her country music. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel Clifford Rickman. Barbara is survived by her children, Howard Rickman of Sherando, Debra Borges of Crimora, Daniel Rickman of Sherando, and Claudette Rickman-Nicely of Sherando. She is also survived by two step children, James Moseman, and Kimberly Moseman; her grandchildren, Derek Borges, Meredith Borges, Ashley Nicely, Whitney Nicely and Loran Huffman. In addition, she is survived by 10 great-grandchildren; along with her special friends, Joyce, JoAnne, and Rose. A graveside funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, July 9th, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Augusta Memorial Park with Pastor Scott Brodd officiating.
