Helen Faye Jackson, age 92, passed away peacefully under the compassionate care of Arden Courts of Livonia on December 17, 2024. She was born on September 30, 1932, in Trenton, Tennessee, to Paul and Mary Davis. Known to all as Faye, she was the beloved wife of the late Jessie Jackson and the loving mother of Nancy "Carolyn" Jackson, Steve (Janet) Jackson, Stan (Julie) Jackson, Sheila (Joe) D'Amico, Don Jackson, and Phil (Denise) Jackson. She was a devoted grandmother to 20 grandchildren and great-grandmother to 19 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her dear sister, Marilyn Davis. Faye was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers, Bennett and Robert Davis.
Faye was born and raised in Tennessee and was known as the proud Strawberry Queen of Gibson County. She moved to Michigan with her family in 1957, where she remained for the rest of her life. Faye was a woman of immense kindness and dedication, always putting others first. She volunteered as a Candy Striper at Annapolis Hospital, where her warmth and dedication were so appreciated that she was later hired as a receptionist, a position she held for many years.
Faye’s love for her family was evident in every aspect of her life. She was an incredibly talented seamstress and lovingly made clothes for all six of her children, creating beautiful holiday outfits for them to wear together. Her tradition continued with her grandchildren, as she made clothes and quilts that they have cherished for years. Faye also delighted in crafting with friends, gathering once a week in someone’s basement to share creativity and fellowship.
Her love of gardening was another passion that touched many lives. Faye had a beautiful garden that brought her immense joy, and she shared that love with her neighbors, children, and grandchildren. Many would dig up some of her plants to transplant in their own yards, ensuring her love for gardening would continue to grow in their lives as well.
She had a remarkable way of preserving memories. Each time one of her children celebrated a milestone 50th birthday, she created a handmade scrapbook to tell the story of their life. Upon each grandchild's high school graduation, they too received a handcrafted scrapbook filled with love and memories.
Faye’s love for her community was also reflected in her strong involvement with her church, Westland Free Methodist. She was deeply engaged in the church’s Bible group, and her caring spirit touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Faye never met a stranger, and her trademark hugs were a signature of her love for others. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the entire community of Arden Courts of Livonia.
Faye’s life was a testament to love, kindness, and devotion. Her legacy lives on in the many hearts she touched and the memories she created with her family and friends.
