Richard L. Sevigny, age 90, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, December 14, 2022 while surrounded by his family. He is preceded in death by his parents Lionel and Jeanette Sevigny; son, James Sevigny; grandsons Randy Konecny, Chase Sevigny; great-granddaughter, Kaylee Schwartz; brothers Wilfred “Bill” Sevigny and Gerald “Jerry” Sevigny. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 70 years, Orlys Sevigny; children Richard (Kathy Stafford) Sevigny, Renee (Douglas Goodwin) Sevigny, Michael (Karen) Sevigny, Robert (Donna) Sevigny, Thomas (Connie) Sevigny; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; siblings Don Sevigny, Eugene Sevigny, Rose Nichols, Edward Sevigny, Carol Sevigny; and many extended family and friends.
Richard proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. For many years, Richard worked as a truck driver hauling propane for Petrolane/AmeriGas. He enjoyed stock car racing and camping at the various tracks to which they traveled. After retirement, Richard and Orlys spent summers at their property in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, where they fished and enjoyed time together in nature. He also liked to watch and support Notre Dame and the Detroit Lions and Tigers. Most importantly, he was proud of his family and the legacy he helped build. He loved them dearly, and they loved him. He will be deeply missed.
A Memorial Mass will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at St. Therese Catholic Church, 129 Cedar St., Wayland, MI 49348 with visitation from 1-1:45 p.m. prior to the service. In memory of Richard and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Therese Catholic Church.
