James Schumaker, age 87 of Middleville, died on May 19, 2014 at Faith Hospice, Trillium Woods surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Geneva Schumaker, and sister Ruth Weick. Jim is survived by his wife Ann of 66 years and his six children: Kathy and Mic Mutschler, Suzi and Tim Tobolic, Jim Schumaker and Nabil Ghazal, John and Stacy Schumaker, Mary Adams, Bill Schumaker and special family friend Betty Sue Van Dyke; his 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; his sisters: Marilyn Swiontek, Theresa and Bud DeVries, Gerie and Daryl Fleser, brother-in-law Bob Weick and many nieces and nephews. Jim is a World War II Veteran and a 35 year retiree from Rockwell International. He was an amateur Golden Gloves boxer and an avid unwavering Detroit Tigers fan. He coached Little League, girl's softball, and was a volunteer fireman for the Dorr Fire Department. Jim and Ann were members of SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. A time for relatives and friends to visit with Jim's family will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Friday, May 23, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Services in Dorr, 4330 18th Ave. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM Saturday, at St. Therese Catholic Parish 128 Cedar St. in Wayland with Reverend Father Chuck Fischer presiding, with military honors.
