A kind man, devoted to his family. We have so many wonderful memories of Dave. He always made a point to come see us whenever we were in town & we consider him family.  We share your grief and we will miss him. ❤️ 

Dave was a lovely neighbor; positive,  giving, upbeat.  We loved watching him in his pontoon on the lake or inviting us over to sit on his deck or share a barbeque.  He was s great "uncle" to the kids in the neighborhood. He will be missed.  Safe journey, Dave.  


We had the privilege to be neighbors with Dave and he was the best!  He was so kind, funny, generous and always would share a good deal or offer his help.  He loves kids and our boys grew to call him “Grandpa Dave”, too like the Winstroms had.  He often offered to watch our boys while hubby and I would take a couple hours fishing on the lake.  We have so many fond memories of Dave and enjoyed his fried fish and many bon fires together.  He was like a second family too us.  We love him and he will be dearly missed.  Thoughts and prayers to his family he so dearly loved. ❤️

Dave was one of my best friends for over 50 years. He was the most kindest, sweetest and most genuine friend anyone could ever have. Always taking time to listen if you were feeling down, and just needed someone to talk too. You will be dearly missed Dave , by all your family, children, grandchildren and special friends. Rest In Peace my dear friend. ❤️

I am so sorry to see Dave has passed away. He was a good friend in school. We didn’t see much of each other after that but when we did bump into each other he was always friendly and wanted to catch up. I would like to send my deepest condolences to all of his family. He was a good man.

We will miss Grandpa Dave more than anyone will know.  He was great at meeting new people and making friends.  He loved helping others and feeling needed.  He also hated that Ryan “never answers his damn phone.” But I always made sure one of us would call him back. He would find the best deals at Daily Deals, the CRAP Store, and whatever yard sale he could find.  Picking up things he could for the kids, or brand new golf hats. 

I will miss him this winter while ryan is coaching. He used to visit me and the kids, knowing that Ryan is coaching and we are both just sitting home. I used to call and check in asking “are you ok? Are you staying warm??” Always inviting him over anytime we knew he needed to get out of the house, but knowing full well that we hated winter and neither of us wanted to face the cold. 

We love you Dave. We will miss you. But I promise I will not stop talking to the kids about the fun times we had with you.  Most of all, I am thankful to have had 15yrs with you and with my kids.  Thank you for helping raise ryan to be an amazing husband and father, and thank you for loving all of these grandkids of yours unconditionally.

Dave was more than a dad, more than a grandpa, more than a father-in-law.  He was one of the only consistent people in our every day lives. He was someone I could count on to hold, hug, and love on my kids.  He would take the kids to birthday dinners, invite us to family Christmas at the VFW, sit and complain with me about how much we hate winter, and ask “when you having another one (kid)?!”

Last summer, we were able to sit with Dave and reminisce about his childhood growing up and his life journey.

Last Sunday Dave came over as usual, just asking to come visit so he could see us and the kids.  He paid Quinton for an overpriced cheese ball that he bought for a school fundraiser, told Quinton how proud he was watching him play football this year, mentioned Hadley’s birthday coming up and taking her to dinner on Friday, told me that he had FINALLY eaten the homegrown popcorn we gave him, and held our youngest baby on his lap, as usual, while we managed whatever chaos was happening between the kids and the puppy.  

We used to count on Dave as our #1 to help watch the kids when we needed help with the kids.  We would watch him hold and bounce the babies, and then eventually sit with them when they got too big.  We watched him bait hooks, feed the fish bread and crackers off the dock, just to train them for when the neighbor girls and their friends wanted to fish.  Dave LOVED the Winstrom girls.  Almost as much as he loved Olivia and Emily.  Those girls are his pride and joy.  He would tell me stories about going to their games and watching from the stands and they wouldn’t even know he was there, but he was.  He was always there.

He was there for Ryan and Angie, telling me stories about all of the road trips and tournaments. He was there for Christmas, when ryan would tell me about his computer, bed set, and cd burner he got as a teenager.  He was there for our wedding, when our kids were born, thanksgivings, Christmas’s, egg hunts, birthdays, he was there.

To all of Dave’s kids:
There was no man that had a bigger heart than Dave. He was a greatly loved member of our family.  This is a very sad day for all of us, but especially for you.

My grandpa was the best person i’ve ever met. If you got the chance to meet him you were automatically a better person. He always dropped everything if my sister or I needed rides or just wanted to hangout. Grandpa always had suckers in his car for us to eat and would take us anywhere we asked at any time. He loved getting fast food and golfing. Him and I would make slime and paint together. He taught me how to draw a monkey and I still do it that exact way to this day. My favorite thing to do with him was make meatballs because we would have competitions about which ones tasted better. I would do anything to have one more hug from him and I know he is thankful we didn’t have to see him hurt or make us worried about him. He only cared about our happiness and I’m one lucky girl to have such an amazing grandpa be in my life.

Great guy! I worked with Dave at Blanco Furniture and now years later I am the UPS person at Campau/Kettle Lake, his smile and welcoming conversation never changed. What a wonderful person! I will miss seeing him.

We worked together at Blanco Furniture and he was the most sweetest, kindness person ever.
