Albert Franzese, of Watkins Glen, NY, age 85 son of the late Anthony (Tony) and Roma (Fraboni) Franzese, passed into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, April 9. He joins his predeceased wife of 43 years, Dorothy (Smith) Franzese; infant son, Gerald Lee Franzese; sister and brother-in-law, Nicholina (Frank) Biagetti; grandson, T-Jay McCall, Erik Jason Franzese; brother-in-law, Willam Fred Quirk; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Robert and Mary Smith; and brother-in-law, Gordan Bidlack.
He leaves behind sons, Stephen (Sue) Franzese, Daniel (Gail) Franzese and daughter, Suzanne (Chuck) Bianco; grandchildren, Kim (Rick) Smithmen, Steven (Jennifer) McCall, Patti (Tony) Creaton, Craig (Alycia) Bianco and Sarah (Matt) Jaynes; six great grandchildren with two more on the way; sister, Carolyn (Franzese) Quirk; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jean and Mike Donnell; sister-in-law, Joyce Bidlack, special niece and “sidekick”, Rosanne Doane; numerous nieces and nephews; special friend, Josephine Wigsten; faithful canine companion, Dutch.
Albert was born August 25, 1928 in Montour Falls, NY. He joined the family business, D & T Franzese Brother’s Inc. He was also employed by Central Asphalt, Inc., Schuyler County Highway Dept. and R & L Perry Construction. He was a member of the Watkins Glen Fire Department, Watkins Glen Elks Lodge #1546, International Union of Operating Engineer. He was also a faithful usher at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church.
He took great pride in his family and cherished family gatherings. He was always happy to help anyone at any time. He loved “cruisin’ in his Edsel” with his beloved canine companion Dutch, to visit the gang at Classic Chefs.
Friends and family may call from 2-4 or 6-8 pm, Saturday April 12, 2014 at Haughey-Wood Funeral Home, 119 5th St., Watkins Glen. His mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 15 at 10 am at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church, 905 Decatur St., Watkins Glen. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Watkins Glen.
