Wayne was formerly employed as a police officer for the city of Waterville from 1964 – 1971, a reserve police officer for the town of Fairfield from 1971 – 1979 and became employed by Federal Trust Company in Waterville in 1971 as a security guard, then a purchasing agent. When Federal Trust Co. merged with Merrill Bank, he became a collector and later a collections official and when Merrill Bank merged with Fleet Bank he was transferred to Bangor to manage a team of collectors and later became a repossession field specialist retiring from Fleet Bank in 1994. He then joined Omni Capital as a district manager and in March 1998 he joined border trust as a collections officer.
Wayne was an avid fisherman and loved to ATV while spending time at his camp on Moosehead Lake. He was known as a dog breeder and handler for over 18 years. He was the owner and breeder of several Samoyed Champions and most proud of his female Bonnie, who was top winning dog in the country in 1978. He was the president of the Central Maine Kennel Club as well as the Federation of Maine Dog Clubs and judged many shows.
Wayne was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Waterville, Cub Scout Webelo Leader. He coached Fairfield PAL baseball and basketball and was the past president of the Lawerence High School Band Boosters.
Wayne is survived by his wife Patrice of Waterville, three sons; Brent and wife Noreen of Sanford, Barry and wife Joann of Charlton, MA, and Derek and wife Rachel of Waterville. Two daughters Tina of Waterville and Laurel of Waterville as well as 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Wayne was predeceased by his father Paul, mother Marie, and a sister Bonnie.
Visitation will be held on Saturday April, 27 from 5 to 7pm at the Veilleux Funeral Home. A funeral will be held on Sunday April 28 at 12 noon followed by committal at Maple Grove Cemetery in Albion.
