WATERVILLE - Lorraine D. Roy, 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday January 25, at Mount St. Joseph's. She was born August 25, 1924 in Winslow, Maine, the daughter of Aline (Marcoux) and Emile Gilbert.
Lorraine was a loving mother who devoted much of her life to caring for her children and family. She started school in Winslow and the following year the family moved to Waterville. She continued her schooling at Notre Dame School, and then went on to Waterville Junior High, and finally graduating from Waterville High School in 1942.
She previously worked for Butler's Department Store and from there she went to Hollingsworth and Whitney in the personnel office and worked there for several years.
On April 28, 1947 she married Roland E. Roy and they had 3 children, William, Michael and Jeanne Roy. Lorraine and Roland were married 60 years in April of 2007.
Roland predeceased her on May 10, 2007 and William predeceased her on May 14, 2010.
Michael married in 1972 and joined the U.S. Air Force. They had 4 children, Charlotte, Richard, Thomas and Katrina. Lorraine also had 2 great-grandsons, Jordan Roy and Lawrence Huggler, all of New York.
At Lorraine's request, there will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday February 13, at 11 AM at Notre Dame Church, 112 Silver Street Waterville, Maine.
Services are under the care and direction of Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm Street Waterville, Maine.
