Mr. Robert “Bob” Love, age 75, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 7, 2010. He was born on May 7, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York.
Mr. Love served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a F.D.N.Y. firefighter for over 32 years, receiving numerous citations for bravery. At one point in his career, he was the most decorated firefighter in the City of New York. He retired as Battalion Chief in 1993.
Bob was a tireless caregiver from his early years when he studied to be a Xaverian Brother. He was a Eucharist Minister at St. Patrick’s Cathedral as well as his numerous local parishes. Over the years, he volunteered through his church, visiting the elderly and doing errands for the homebound.
Bob Love was preceded in death by his parents, John and Catherine Love. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Josephine (Cunnane) Love; his children, Robert F. Love, II of Florida, Christopher Love and his wife, Christine of Cornwall, NY, Laura Love-Kroll and her husband, Jack of Clintondale, NY; his sisters, Patricia Donahue and her husband, Jim of Saugerties, NY, Jane Kabelka and her husband, John of Little River, SC, and his brother, John Love and wife, Patricia of Lakewood, NJ. He also has seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 from 3:00PM to 5:00PM and from 7:00PM to 9:00PM at David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North Street, Washingtonville. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 10:00AM at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Washingtonville. Internment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
