A resident of Washingtonville for more than 30 years, Richard took pride in being an industrious and successful business owner. He owned and operated Washingtonville Express Lube since 1999. Richie enjoyed cooking and used his culinary skills to pay homage to his Italian heritage. Throughout his life, he was known for his vivacious storytelling telling and pragmatic personality which drew smiles and laughter wherever he went. He was especially known for his catch phrases, including, “I feel like I have been hit by a bus, I feel like I have been hit by a bus and I am still being dragged, I feel like I have been hit by a bus, stood up and got hit again, bigga shot, I am under the gun, and it’s deader than Kelsey nuts.” He had unmatched love, devotion, and compassion for his family. Richard spent early mornings talking to his sister on the phone and laughing with friends at TM deli. He spent his evenings talking to his brother on the phone and listening to Frank Sinatra on blast. His favorite song was “My Way,” and that truly embodies how he lived his life. Richie will be forever missed and loved by his family and friends.
Richard is survived by his two children Richard Jr. and wife Rosy of Pine Bush, and Erica and husband Eric Butler of Newburgh and his beloved grandchildren Emma and Jace Butler who were his entire world. In addition, his brother Michael and wife Kathy, sister Maria and husband Joe whom he considered a brother and best friend. His cousin, Maria Bua who he could always call to talk, and for a smile, his many nieces, nephews, and great nephews especially his niece, Kacey who made him smile with her frequent visits and calls. He is predeceased by his brother Johnny, whom he loved very much.
