former resident of Glenolden, Pa., Poughkeepsie, N.Y. and Staten Island, N.Y. died Monday August 10, 2020, at Good Samaritan Hospital. She was a young 67.
The daughter of the late Michael and Gladys (Windhorst) Navarino she was born on June 12, 1953, in Staten Island, N.Y.
Michele was a homemaker, taught at local preschools, and for several years taught CCD at St. Mary's. She devoted several years to caring for her daughter and mother and also had been a successful Real Estate Agent.
Michele loved clothes. As could be seen in the way she dressed up every time she went out the door. She always looked great every time she went out no matter what time of day or the occasion.
Interior design was her passion, and it shows within the walls of her house, nothing was to be out of place. Years ago, she was an excellent craft maker. She had a great eye for details. Michele was also a Cub Scout Den Mother for several years.
Michele attended St. Roch's Elementary and graduated from St. John Villa Academy. Both located in Staten Island N.Y. In her junior and senior year, she was the Captain of the Majorettes at St. John's. She also attended Marist College in Poughkeepsie N.Y. While at Marist she met and fell in love with her husband David 'Pip'. They were married there at the chapel 48 years ago.
Michele has battled diabetes for 40 years. For the past 4 1/2 years she has been in end stage renal failure. She has been on dialysis during that time. She knew her body well and did a remarkable job managing her health along with the assistance of both Dr. Ramos and Dr. Obligado. The staff at the DaVita Dialysis center in Middletown N.Y. has been great in helping her with the care.
Survivors include her husband Dave and three children. David IV and his wife Mary, Justin and his wife Danielle, and Megan, all of Washingtonville. Her six grandchildren Joseph 21, Jake 16, Olivia 9, Justin (JD) 8, Rhiannon 7, and Bryce 6. She called her youngest 4 my 'grandchildren of the corn on the cob'. Additionally, Michele is survived by her brother George and his wife Pat of Newport N.C., her sister Jane Sherman and her husband Steve of Longport N.Y., her sister Ann Baglio and her husband Ron of Lynbrook N.Y., and her sister Carol Shields of Culpepper, VA. She also has 9 nieces and 10 nephews.
Michele was predeceased by her parents, three sisters, and her nephew Ron.
Visitation will take place Friday August 14 from 2-4 & 7-9 at David T Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North Street, Washingtonville, New York. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday August 15 at 10:00AM at Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 42 Goshen Avenue, Washingtonville N.Y. Interment will follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery in Washingtonville N.Y.
In lieu of flowers please make a memorial contribution to either the Blooming Grove Ambulance or the Monell Engine Company in Michele's name. Arrangements are under the direction of the David T Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North Street., Washingtonville, N.Y.
