John Pelczar

John C. Pelczar, 85, of Middletown, NY, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2024, at Garnet Health Medical Center. Born on January 27, 1939, in Odrzykon, Poland, John’s life was defined by hard work, love for family, and a passion for life’s simple joys.

John is survived by his loving wife of many years, Irene Pelczar; his daughter, Christine Zurowski; and three cherished grandchildren, Ellaina Zurowski, John Bajan, and Madeline Arcykiewicz. He also leaves behind two adoring great-grandchildren, Cameryn Grace Rabel and Lainey Jane Rabel. He is further survived by his brother, Jozef Pelczar, and his sisters, Zofia Galek and Maria Habrat. John was predeceased by his daughter Dorothy Arcykiewicz.

John was a dedicated and hardworking man, employed as a machinist in the printing industry at Hantscho Corporation in Mt. Vernon, New York, for many years. Beyond his career, John was a man of many interests. He found joy in walking, working on cars, and tending to his garden—always staying active and rarely sitting still. His spirit and determination touched everyone around him.

John will be remembered as a devoted family man, a hardworking friend, and a steadfast presence in the lives of his loved ones. His memory will live on through the stories, laughter, and cherished moments shared with his family.

He will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered. May he rest in peace.

A visitation for John will be held Tuesday, December 10, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North Street, Washingtonville, NY 10992. A mass of christian burial will occur Wednesday, December 11, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at St. Mary's Church, 42 Goshen Ave, Washingtonville, NY 10992. A burial will occur Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at St Mary's Cemetery, 2 Father Tierney Cir, Washingtonville, NY 10992.
