Gloria Ann Schadt

Gloria Ann Schadt, 74, of Washingtonville, New York, passed away on May 27, 2022. Gloria was born in Astoria Queens on April 4, 1948, to Anthony and Lillian (Sepe) Capato. Gloria moved to Washingtonville with her beloved children in 1986. Here, she was a part of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Monell Engine Company and a part of the hook and ladder family. She worked for Stop and Shop for twenty-five years, where she built connections that would last a lifetime. She met the love of her life, Leon Schadt, here in Washingtonville. They married on August 30, 1997 and spent the rest of their days together. Her favorite times were when she went on vacation with her family and friends, in Atlantic City, Long Beach Island, NJ, and Las Vegas. Here, she made some of her fondest and most beautiful memories. She had the best jokes, sense of humor and loved to make everyone around her laugh. She was loving, gentle, kind and generous. No matter what, she was always someone you could turn to and had the biggest heart. Gloria cherished every one of her friends. She considered them all to be a part of her family and loved ones. Gloria was most proud of and loved her children and grandchildren.

Gloria is survived by her husband, Leon Schadt and his son Lee Schadt and his wife Nikki Schadt, her children, Frank Lapovicy and his partner Jennifer, Christina Lapovicy, Nicole Salamin and her husband Matthew Salamin, Thomas Lynn and his wife Vanessa Lynn, her sister-in-law Vera Capato and her grandchildren, Brittany Lapovicy, Mackenzie Pitonza, Isabella Pitonza, Kevin Schofield Jr., Nicole Lapovicy, and Charlotte Lynn. She was predeceased by her parents, and her brother, Anthony Capato.

Visitation will be May 31, from 4-8 pm at David T Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North Street, Washingtonville, N.Y. Mass of Christian Burial will be June 1, 2022, 11:30 am at St. Mary’s Church, 42 Goshen Avenue, Washingtonville, NY. Private cremation to follow.
