Dorothy Theresa Schueler went home to her lord saviour on October 18th, 2020. She was born on July 12, 1932 in NYC to Margaret Egan Borst and James Borst. All her life Dorothy has been a true NYC girl. Spending her young life in her neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen. She was the youngest of five children.
Her fondest of memories was being a member of St. Raphael's Church, and marching in their Fife and Drum Band where she played the fife. After public school Dorothy became a telephone operator for Ma Belle. She met the LOVE of her life, Elmore Vincent Schueler, a sailor on leave from the Navy, when she was visiting Oxford Springs with best friend also Elmore's cousin. Together they built their home in Blooming Grove where they raised their two children.
Dorothy was a parishioner of St. Colomba's in Chester and St. Mary's in Washingtonville. She was also a member of the Mother's Club in St. Colomba's. One thing she loved the best was dancing with her husband at parties and weddings. She leaves behind her son James and his partner Sharon and her daughter Margaret-Ann Victoria. She also leaves behind her grandson Daune and his wife Kimberly, grandaughter Brittany and ger husband Robert, and grandsons Jeffrey and Devon. Her five great grandchildren include Alyssa, Robin, Ryan Gabriel, Brayden and Bryce. She was predeceased by her husband Elmore, her brothers Arthur and George Borst. Her sisters Rita Berta and Margaret Castaldo and her cousin Lillian Sharkey. In her lifetime she has been a very wise and conscientious and most caring individual. Praying for others and always thinking of others first. Instead of saying goodbye she would say Shalom. She will certainly be missed by all who love her.
Visitation will be on Thursday October 22, 2020 from 2-5 pm at David T Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North Street, Washingtonville, New York 10992. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday October 23, 2020, 11:00 am at St. Columba Church, 29 High Street, Chester, NY. Interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, 2 Fr. Tierney Circle, Washingtonville, NY. Memorial contributions in Dorothy name may be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, New York 12550.
