You are missed my friend!  Think of you often and how thankful I am for having known you.  We surely miss your statesmanship, dignity and love of country.  How we could use your talents in these insane political times!

I first knew Powell when we were both Press Assistants for Southern U.S. Senators and members of the U.S. Senate Press Association in the early 1970s. We worked together as   Presidential Appointees in Legislative Affairs for Pres. Reagan. From the first days of our professional association and friendship, it was clear that Powell had  special gifts: he was uncompromisingly dedicated to his country, humble, wise,  hard-working, and devoted to going the extra mile for God-victory in right policies, sound principles, and helping others.  He encompassed the best of statesmanship  &  integrity, which, with his respect for others, were the keys to his success.  He loved Pam deeply, from their first days of dating, and his contributions and humility in high service will inspire other patriots to serve America with honesty & kindness.   Humility is the key to working with others.  Powell was truly a powerful Servant-Leader.

Powell was a true southern gentleman. I worked for him when he was Fred Thompson’s Chief of Staff. He was always encouraging to staffers and was supportive of those who worked for him. I always loved hearing his stories of the members of congress he had worked for over the years. It was a privilege to have known him. 

I miss Powell every day.  It was an honor to know Powell, to experience his wit, knowledge and love for UGA and Georgia.  I thank Dr. Tudor Vlad for the introduction and the many times the three of us shared a Jack Daniels together.  How I wish Powell was still with us so I could discuss with him current politics and life.  It was an honor to know him and to call him a friend.  My best to Pam and family.  Powell truly left a legacy of memories for me.  

I just learned of Powell’s passing this evening.  I was so sad to hear this news. For many years I served Senator Richard Lugar, ultimately becoming his Chief of Staff.  I knew Powell  initially in this context and we became friends for these many years. I had not seen him for a number of months, but always valued our chance to get back together and reminisce about the days of political decency. 
 I described him tonight to a friend as the ultimate southern gentleman.  He was a true legislative tactician and an extraordinary advocate for causes he cared about, particularly during his work at the State Department. 

When I left Senator Lugar and started on my own, he was kind  enough to take me into an office that he shared and helped me get started with Andreae and Associates.
 This firm is now 27 years old and it would not have ever gotten off the ground without the sage advice from my old friend. I will miss him greatly. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Powell Moore was simply one of the best, kindest, most thoughtful people I have known in my life.  He personified dignity, integrity and southern charm.  I am deeply grateful that I had the opportunity to know him.  Truly, he was a hero.  Would that there were more Powells in the world.

 I worked under Powell Moore when he was chief of staff to Senator Thompson. Admired him greatly, learned so much from him, still benefit to this day from his confidence in me. Powell wrote my Rec to law school, which I credit for my admission and now my whole career.  A regret in my life is not letting Mr. Moore know how impactful and influential he was for me. What an  extraordinary leader, public servant, and human being.  Condolences to his family – and prayers for peace and blessing.

Your father was such a good friend to mine during his difficult years. I have wonderful memories of the light and laughter he  brought in the room with him when he would come to visit his old pal, Gene. Claudia and I are thinking of you both. We know you will miss him.


I did not know him personally however my son, Caleb Morris, did. He was introduced to him by Dr. Brooks of UGA. Caleb got to know him while interning at the White House. He visited him just a couple of weeks ago. My son was honored to know him. He spoke very highly of him. So kind of him to spend time with my son. I’m thankful Caleb was able to know such a wonderful person. Our sympathies go out to the family. 

My deepest condolences to his family. 
He was a very kind and special person. May he rest in peace.
