Mary Callaghan Rose

As many of you know, Mary Rose worked for 32 years to contribute to the development of a world class research program at Children's Hospital in Washington. During her last faculty meeting in December I heard her propose that the Children's Research Institute needed to establish a sustained program of guest lecturers to circulate the latest ideas and technologies and fertilize the growth of research at Children's. All were in agreement. Then they said: but we have no funds to make that happen. They left the meeting pondering how to do that. When Mary died and her brokenhearted compatriots asked themselves how they could best honor her memory, they proposed a Mary Rose Memorial Lectureship. The Callaghan ans Smith families are deeply touched. And now we want to touch you, as they say in Boston.

Gifts made in memory of Mary Callaghan Rose will support the Mary Callaghan Rose Memorial Lecture at Children’s National Health System.
