It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Karl Ernst Davis, a resident of Bethesda, Maryland, on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the age of 85. Mr. Davis passed away peacefully at Carriage Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a prolonged illness.
Mr. Davis was a lifelong resident of the Washington, DC area. He was a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College and George Washington University School of Law. Mr. Davis spent his law career with Margolius, Mallios, Davis, Rider, and Tomar Law Firm.
Mr. Davis was a longstanding member of the Masonic Temple and a member of the Royal Order of Jesters.
Karl is survived by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Clare McCarthy Davis; his daughter, Phyllis Ann Davis Loud and husband, John; grandsons, Alexander E. "Alex" Loud of Bozeman, Montana, John M. "Jack" Loud, Jr. of Burlington, Vermont; and granddaughter, Rebecca Marie Davis of Bethesda, Maryland.
Preceding Karl in death are his parents, Frederick M. and Nellie Ruth Ernst Davis, and a son, Frederick Stephen Davis.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family at Joseph Gawler's Sons, LLC, 5130 Wisconsin Avenue, N.W. (corner of Harrison Street) Washington, DC (Valet Parking) on Wednesday, September 14 in the Eisenhower Room from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The funeral service is to be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 15 in the Joseph E. Hagan Memorial Chapel at Joseph Gawler's Sons, where The Reverend Christopher Chatelaine-Samsen, Associate Pastor of The Georgetown Presbyterian Church, is to officiate.
The interment will immediately follow the service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, Maryland.
In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions may be sent to the BCC Rescue Squad, Bethesda, Maryland; or to a charity of your choice .
