John Douglass Ruff (77) of Washington, DC on July 3, 2018 in his residence at Grand Oaks Assisted Living. Doug was born on June 3, 1941 in Cincinnati, OH to Alma (Kendrick) and John Douglass Ruff. He was distinguished alumni of Saint Albans School in Washington DC, Haverford College in Haverford, Pennsylvania, and the University of Chicago. Doug worked many years as Counsel and Vice-President at GEICO before retiring in 1999. He was a benefactor, honoree and key leader in the Society of King Charles the Martyr. Doug was a life-long train buff and a Grand Master in Trivia. He loved travel and during retirement visited every continent (including Antarctica). A viewing will be held at Joseph Gawler's Sons Funeral Home, 5130 Wisconsin Ave NW, Washington, DC on Friday 7/13/18 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Requiem Mass will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church at 1315 8th Street NW, Washington, DC on 7/14/18 at 9:30 AM.
