Ann Martin McLeod

Ann Martin McLeod, 66, passed away peacefully after a lengthy battle with heart disease. She was born on March 16, 1944, to the late Ruth Lefever Martin and late Lester Bachman “Chet” Martin in Lancaster, PA. In 1966 she graduated from Catawba College in Salisbury, NC. She resided in New Orleans, LA, Monroe, LA, Asheville, NC and lived her final years in the Washington, DC metro area to be near family.

A devoted and beloved middle school teacher, she is a former Teacher of the Year for Valley Springs Middle School in Asheville, NC. Over the years numerous former students have reached out to her family to acknowledge the significant role she played in their life as a tutor and mentor.

A Private Funeral Service will be held at Joseph Gawler’s Sons Funeral Home in Washington, DC.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that contributions be made to either Bartholomew House at 6904 River Road, Bethesda, MD 20817-4744 or Arts for the Aging at 6917 Arlington Road, Suite 352, Bethesda, MD 20814.
