Richard A. Mangano, Jr., age 62, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, June 20, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Laurie M. (Lightbown) Mangano, they were married for 30 years. Born in Providence he was the son of the late Richard A. and Judith J. (Quinn) Mangano, Sr.
Richard had a long, 40-year fulfilling career as a union electrician and was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 99. He retired in 2019 from RYAN ELECTRIC CONSTRUCTION INC. after 30 years. Richard loved his family and friends and will be fondly remembered for his generous heart. He loved to entertain, especially in the summer, where he could be found by the pool cooking and grilling, his other passion. In addition to entertaining and cooking, Richard loved football and gardening and was an avid golfer. His yearly fantasy football league draft pick party was the highlight of football season for him where he showcased his love of entertaining and cooking for family and friends. It also held a sense of comradery between fellow fantasy football fanatics that Richard was so fond of.
Behind every great man is a great woman, and no one was dearer to Richard than his beloved precious wife Laurie. In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by his siblings, Judith A. Javery-Mangano of Warwick, Lee C. J. Mangano of Providence, Becky L. Trosin and her husband Mark of Coventry, his sister-in-law Teresa Lightbown of Cranston and brother-in-law Frederick Lightbown of Hallandale, Florida. He also leaves his nieces and nephews, Leeann Henderson, Maggie Hughes, Erica Schmitt, Joseph Lightbown, Sarah Trosin, two great nephews, Logan Henderson and Henry Richard Hughes, and great niece Emily Henderson. Richard also leaves his beloved cat “Coco-Chanel.”
Family and friends are invited to call in the Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, Warwick, on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. followed by his Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org/donate.
