June 6th, 2021. Born in Queens, NY, a son of the late William and Eileen (Mahoney) Molloy. He
was a longtime resident of Long Island, NY before relocating 11 years ago to Warren, RI.
Paul was the loving husband of Margaret (Werner) Molloy, to whom he was married for 32
years. He is also survived by his daughter Megan, his daughter Katieanne and her partner Chris,
his grandson Aidan and his bonus grandson Spencer, as well as his two brothers, Edward and
John Molloy, and two great friends, Pete and Keith, who may as well have been brothers. He is
very missed by his many cousins, nieces, and nephews, as well as his trusty sidekick Pumpkin
the guide dog, his retired guide dog Shaunie, and little Larry who he couldn’t help but love. Paul
was preceded in death by his siblings: Jimmy, Billy, Tommy, Robert, Anne, Robin, and Gary
Molloy.
A graduate of West Hempstead High School in West Hempstead, NY, he attended National
Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in Rochester,
NY where he met Margaret playing in the Deaf Combo Band and had the opportunity to together
perform for the President. He continued his studies at SUNY Stony Brook in Long Island, NY
where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Social Science. He also earned a Graduate Certificate
in Rehabilitation Counseling at Western Oregon University in Monmouth, Oregon and a
Master’s Degree in Deaf Education/Special Education at Teachers College, Columbia University
in Manhattan NY.
He took great pride in his work as Project Coordinator of New York State Technical Assistance
Project (NYSTAP) working with DeafBlind children and youth at Columbia University where he
worked for 14 years. He led and assisted in many workshops throughout the years focused on
accessibility and even took part in publications such as Silence with a Touch: Living with Usher
Syndrome and Usher Syndrome: Personal and Professional Perspectives in which he explained
about his unique disability- Usher Syndrome, which caused him to be DeafBlind. Paul moved to
Warren in 2009 where he began work at Corliss Institute Inc. as the Program Director and later
the Executive Director, a position he held until his passing. He had a great love and passion for
working with Deaf and Deaf with Developmental Disabilities, advocating for accessibility. He
truly leaves a wake in the Deaf and DeafBlind communities. Despite his many accomplishments,
his greatest trait of all was his sense of humor. No matter what life threw at him, he always
managed to keep laughing, get everyone laughing with him, and came out stronger. He had an
amazing ability to light up any room and make every person feel truly “seen” and valued.
According to his daughters he was the absolute best Dad and provided an amazing support
system for his immediate family, and the many people that became family throughout the years.
He will be deeply missed.
