Waunetus Vickery Carey age 91 died Saturday August 10, 2013 at Cherrywood Nursing Center in Sterling Heights Michigan. Mrs. Carey was born Waunetus June Vickery November 25, 1921 in Bear Creek, Alabama, the daughter of the late Waymon Waco Vickery and the late Coey (nee: Howell) Vickery.Waunetus was raised in Alabama and moved to Michigan as a young woman for better work opportunities. She worked for Aunt May's Spinach in Detroit, then went on to work in administration for Blue Cross/Blue Shield, later worked as a secretary for a construction company before taking a position with Macomb Community College in Admissions.When Waunetus was not working she enjoyed gardening and being around her family. She remained fiercely independent her whole life living in her own home. She had a wicked sense of humor and was very outspoken to a fault. She loved life and loved telling you how it was. She will be fondly remembered by all who came to know her.Mrs. Carey is survived by her daughter Daryl (Sandy) Peters, and her grandchildren, Shawndra Peterson, and Brent Peterson. Also surviving are her two great-grandchildren, Christian and Quinn Peterson. Mrs. Carey was predeceased by her husband George, her son Devlyn Carey and nine siblings.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday 12 Noon at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy Michigan.
