Paul L. Allen, age 76 of Warren, died July 14, 2013 at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital-Oakland Center in Madison Heights. He was born on November 8, 1936 in Winterset, Iowa. He was born to the son of the late Lloyd Paul Allen and the late Thelma (nee: Umphrey) Allen. With thanks & praise from a grateful nation, we pay homage to Paul for the call to duty he so proudly served as a soldier in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. While serving his country he specialized as a Radio Communications Repairman. Perilous as it was, he held much pride for the role he played in protecting the freedoms and liberties we enjoy today. We honor him and others for their service to our country.Upon return from his service, Paul joined the Union of Local 80 with his dad. A hard working sheet metal worker for the construction companies was a tough job and Paul continued his hard labor for over thirty years. After his retirement he enjoyed traveling, NASCAR, baking and spending time with his family. Paul is described by his family as a kind, loving, giving person who thought of others before he thought of himself. He was a man that had a smile that would light up a room and seemed to get a lot of attention from the ladies. Paul was a tough man on the outside but a gentle soft giant on the inside...like an M&M.He was the beloved husband of JoAnne. Loving father of Laura Allen, Lori (Roger) Sloane, Charles (Shawna) Wash, and the late Brian Allen. Dear grandfather of Katie Allen. Brother of Pam (Dave) Bacon. Visitation for Paul will be held Thursday 3-9pm with a Funeral Friday at 11am at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Road) in Warren. Please share memories at his guest book.
