Marie Markus

Marie's journey began in Dearborn, where she attended St. Alphonsus, laying the foundation for a life guided by faith and service. For 34 years, Marie worked tirelessly as a cashier for Farmer Jack, where she greeted each customer with a warm smile and genuine kindness.

However, Marie's true calling lay in her dedication to helping others. She selflessly devoted her time and energy to numerous organizations, including the Manna Community Meals Soup Kitchen, the Red Cross, and St. Patrick's Senior Center. She was a passionate advocate for peace, participating in marches in Washington DC and Chicago for Peace Action of America.

Marie was also an active member of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 876, advocating for the rights of Farmer Jack retirees. Her commitment to social justice and equality was unwavering, and her impact on her community was immeasurable.

In addition to her volunteer work, Marie found joy in pursuing her hobbies. She was a talented crafter, creating beautiful works of art that brought joy to those around her. She also enjoyed spending time solving crossword puzzles and keeping her mind sharp with reading, a testament to her lifelong thirst for knowledge.

Marie will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her boundless kindness, unwavering compassion, and infectious laughter will forever be remembered and cherished.

Marie was the loving mother of Wendy Markus, Beth Gulecki, Craig Markus, and Amy Markus. Cherished grandmother of Joshua (Lori), the late Charlene, and Eric (Kaleigh). Adored great-grandmother of Callie, Marissa, Cole, Brooks, and Luke. She was predeceased by her brothers Harry, Nick, Joe Bousamra.

A Memorial Visitation for Marie will be held Saturday, February 17th from 12pm-2pm with a Memorial Service at 2pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common Road (12 1/2 Mile), Warren, MI.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Marie's name are appreciated to the Manna Community Meal, 1950 Trumbull, Detroit, MI 48216.
