Kenneth James Peters

Kenneth J Peters, age 73, died Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital in Warren. Ken was born August 12, 1944 in Detroit, son of the late James an the late Arleen (nee: Woods) Peters.Born in Detroit, and a success story from what began in the projects, Kenneth's sights were always in the stars as a young man which helped drive his determination towards bigger and better things. Like most of our experiences, high school provided a host of varied pleasures and fond memories,…and for Kenneth, his was life-changing. It's been said that being introduced by a friend is often the best way to meet someone, and that's exactly how Kenneth came to know the woman who would sweep him off his feet, Miss Christine Jagodzinski. It was a friendship that began through a high school friend,…then Cupid took it from there and the romance blossomed. It was at the young age of 18 that Kenneth asked Christine to be his wife, and they've been together ever since. From the newlywed stage into their second year of marriage, they found themselves ready to forge ahead and decided to relocate to the new and burgeoning community of Warren. It is there that they planted new stakes, built upon the comforts of home and hearth, and raised three beautiful children. Kenneth & Christine's new home was established in 1965.As for Kenneth's employment bio, he was quite the handy and industrious kind of guy so it came as no surprise that he just naturally gravitated toward the tool & die industry. That is where he cut his teeth and got his start and worked at a number of small shops until landing his first major gig at the automotive giant, the Chrysler Corporation. From there Kenneth would ultimately transition to the other giant, General Motors, where he continued his work as a tool & die maker. Kenneth enjoyed 27 years at GM before answering that call of retirement and beginning the next chapter in his life.Kenneth will forever be remembered as an avid sportsman who loved the outdoors and soaking up as much fun as the Mitten State had to offer. Like many Michiganders, Kenneth lived for those precious months in the Fall when it was time to go chasing down the deer,…or perhaps just sitting still and waiting for them to come to him. He loved deer hunting and sharing in the camaraderie that accompanied the sport. As Fall gave way to Winter, and winter ushered in the snow, you could see the excitement on Kenny's face when he knew it was time to unearth his snow machine. A good pack of snow, a warm array of duds, and a firm grip of his snowmobile all made for the perfect recipe of a Winter Man Day in the Mitten!Not merely a hunter, Kenneth was also an appreciator of firearms and knew his ammunition well. So much so that he could often be found enjoying some of his down time reloading his own personal ammo for future use. There may have been a bit of work involved, but having a bead on both your gun and its firepower reigned supreme for this marksman. And something else that provided countless warm and wonderful memories for Ken was the cottage up north that he so enjoyed visiting and immersing himself in its comfortable environs. Nestled just outside of Grayling, it was the perfect escape from the concrete jungle and away from the stresses of life. It was Kenneth's own personal slice of Heaven that called his name often,…a call that he loved taking. A loving husband, father, and doting grandpa of Sara, Kenneth leaves behind a host of wonderful memories shared with those he loved, and a legacy of love that will be embraced by all who were blessed and fortunate to know him. He will be missed immensely and loved eternally. Kenneth was the beloved husband of Christine. Dearest father of Cynthia Peters, Donald (Rebecca) Peters, and Steven (Sandra) Peters. Loving grandfather of Sara. Devoted brother of Ellen Delikat and Martin (Deborah) Peters.Visitation for Kenneth will be held Sunday, July 1st from 3-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd.) in Warren. There will be no formal funeral services. Please share memories at Ken's memory book above.
