Judith Ann Canfield (Brown), age 79 of Clinton Township, died suddenly on August 13, 2021. She was born on September 5, 1941, in Pontiac, Michigan to her late parents, Raymond and Ruth (nee Luscomb) Todd.
Judy retired from the Ford Motor Company in Dearborn where she worked for 30 years as an attendant in the Executive Garage of the "Glass House". She had the not so easy task of being a single mother, but worked hard to provide for her five children, including making their clothes for special occasions and knitting their sweaters for cold winters. She worked hard to buy her first home in Ferndale, where she spent decades remodeling it on her own. Judy was highly intelligent (especially at math), independent, and incredibly handy woman. She could do anything she set her mind to. If you needed something fixed, mended, or made from scratch, Judy was the one to call, as she was eager to help anyone in need. Over her lifetime she held certifications as a Realtor, Electrical Technician, and Welder. Her childhood dream was to be an engineer and inventor like her Dad, but the 1950's made that difficult to achieve as a young woman.
In her leisure time, Judy was an ardent reader. She could read volumes of books in 1 week! Her favorite genre was Mystery and Murder Mystery. She also loved reading about nature, especially birds, flowers, trees, history, and even astronomy! There really wasn't any subject that she didn't have a curiosity and knowledge about. If you weren't sure about something, you knew you could call Judy for an answer. She also had a deep and daily relationship with Jesus and she cherished her friends and Pastor George from Stone Haven Free Methodist Church, where she was an active member. As a history buff, she loved to travel to historical sites across the country and participated in Civil War reenactment's with her close friend and former husband Mike. Judy loved celebrating St. Patrick’s Day by throwing a good party. She was well known for her BBQ's, and her grandchildren were most fond of her cookies and breads. Most of all, Judy loved spending time with her family and her cat, Sammy. Her family will always remember and treasure her loving, generous, and independent nature. She will be deeply missed.
Judith was the loving mother of Timothy (Linda) Brown, Kathleen (Shannon) Earles, Paula (David) Cavataio, Alana (Douglas) Booher, and Bruce Brown. Cherished grandmother of Trent Brown, Brittney (Steve), Ryan (Amy) Denier, Brett (Kellie) Denier, Jordan Cavataio, Troy (Emily) Cavataio, Ally (Alem) Cavataio, Ciera Booher, Ethan Booher, Alana Street, and Tyler Street. Adored great-grandmother of Dylan McCallum, Lennon Denier, Madelyn Denier, Hannah Denier, Joseph, Dante, Eritrea, and Emitra. Dear sister of Michael (Carolyn) Todd, Donald (Brenda) Todd, Geoffrey (Margaret) Todd, Terry (Susan) Todd, Jill (Timothy) Moore, Deborah (Robert) Walosin, and Kim (Larry) Bebout. Loving cat mom of Sammy.
